61.大力士和马车夫, Hercules and the Waggoner (Dà lì shì hé mǎ chē fū)

yǒu yī cì ， yī liàng mǎ chē zài mǎn le huò wù xíng shǐ zài ní nìng de lù shàng ，

有一次，一辆马车载满了货物行驶在泥泞的路上，

zài bàn tú zhōng chē lún ér de yī bàn ér xiàn jìn le wū ní lǐ ，   

在半途中车轮儿的一半儿陷进了污泥里， 

mǎ yuè shǐ jìn ér lún zǐ fǎn ér jiù xiàn de yuè shēn 。

马越使劲儿轮子反而就陷的越深。

wú nài zhī xià ， mǎ chē fū rēng diào biān zǐ ，

无奈之下，马车夫扔掉鞭子，

guì xià lái xiàng dà lì shì shén qǐ dǎo 。

跪下来向大力士神祈祷。

tā shuō： “   dà lì shì shén à ， bāng zhù wǒ tuō lí zhè gè wēi nán ” 。

他说：“ 大力士神啊，帮助我脱离这个危难”。

zhī hòu ，   dà lì shì shén xiàng tā xiǎn xiàn ， duì tā shuō ：

之后， 大力士神向他显现，对他说：

“ nǐ zhè gè rén yɑ ， bù yào shēn kāi sì zhī tān zài nà lǐ 。 

“你这个人呀，不要伸开四肢瘫在那里。

qǐ lái yòng nǐ de jiān bǎng qù tuī lún zǐ ” 。

起来用你的肩膀去推轮子”。

gù shì shì shuō： tiān zhù zhī zì zhù de rén 。 

故事是说：天助之自助的人。

A Waggoner was once driving a heavy load along a very muddy way.  

yǒu yī cì ， yī liàng mǎ chē zài mǎn le huò wù xíng shǐ zài ní nìng de lù shàng ，

At last he came to a part of the road where the wheels sank half-way into the mire,

zài bàn tú zhōng chē lún ér de yī bàn ér xiàn jìn le wū ní lǐ ，   

and the more the horses pulled, the deeper sank the wheels.  

mǎ yuè shǐ jìn ér lún zǐ fǎn ér jiù xiàn de yuè shēn 。

So the Waggoner threw down his whip, 

wú nài zhī xià ， mǎ chē fū rēng diào biān zǐ ，

and knelt down and prayed to Hercules the Strong.

guì xià lái xiàng dà lì shì shén qǐ dǎo 。

"O Hercules, help me in this my hour of distress," quoth he.

tā shuō： “   dà lì shì shén à ， bāng zhù wǒ tuō lí zhè gè wēi nán ” 。

But Hercules appeared to him, and said:

zhī hòu ，   dà lì shì shén xiàng tā xiǎn xiàn ， duì tā shuō ：

"Tut, man, don't sprawl there.  

“ nǐ zhè gè rén yɑ ， bù yào shēn kāi sì zhī tān zài nà lǐ 。 

Get up and put your shoulder to the wheel."

qǐ lái yòng nǐ de jiān bǎng qù tuī lún zǐ ” 。

The gods help them that help themselves.

gù shì shì shuō： tiān zhù zhī zì zhù de rén 。
