58.工人和夜莺 (The Labourer and the Nightingale) iconsound

yī gè xià rì de wǎn shàng ,yī gè gōng rén tǎng zhe chè yè wèi mián tīng yè yīng chàng gē 。

一个夏日的晚上,一个工人躺着彻夜未眠听夜莺唱歌。

A Labourer lay listening to a Nightingale's song throughout the summer night. 

yú shì , dì èr tiān wǎn shàng tā jiù shè liǎo xiàn jǐng , bǎ yè yīng zhuō zhù 。

于是,第二天晚上他就设了陷井,把夜莺捉住。

So pleased was he with it that the next night he set a trap for it and captured it.  

gōng rén gāo xìng de dà hǎn : “ xiàn zài wǒ zhuā dào nǐ le ,

工人高兴的大喊:“现在我抓到你了,

"Now that I have caught thee," he cried, 

nǐ yīng gāi bù tíng dì wèi wǒ gē chàng ” 。 yè yīng shuō :

你应该不停地为我歌唱”。夜莺说:

"thou shalt always sing to me."
 

“ wǒ men cóng bù zài lóng zǐ lǐ chàng gē ” 。   

“我们从不在笼子里唱歌”。 

"We Nightingales never sing in a cage." said the bird.

gōng rén jiù shuō : “ nà me , wǒ huì bǎ nǐ chī diào 。

工人就说:“那么,我会把你吃掉。

"Then I'll eat thee." said the Labourer.  

wǒ zǒng tīng rén shuō shāo kǎo de yè yīng shì xī yǒu de měi wèi jiā yáo ” 。

我总听人说烧烤的夜莺是稀有的美味佳肴”。

"I have always heard say that a nightingale on toast is dainty morsel."

yè yīng shuō : “ bù yào shā wǒ , rú guǒ nǐ fàng le wǒ ,

夜莺说:“不要杀我,如果你放了我,

"Nay, kill me not," said the Nightingale; "but let me free,

wǒ huì gào sù nǐ sān jiàn bǐ wǒ zhè xiǎo xiǎo de shēn tǐ gèng yǒu jià zhí de shì qíng ” 。

我会告诉你三件比我这小小的身体更有价值的事情”。

and I'll tell thee three things far better worth than my poor body."  

zhè gè gōng rén jiù bǎ yè yīng fàng le 。 yè yīng fēi dào shù zhī shàng shuō :

这个工人就把夜莺放了。夜莺飞到树枝上说:

The Labourer let him loose, and he flew up to a branch of a tree and said:

“ bù yào xiāng xìn yī gè fú lǔ de chéng nuò , zhè shì dì yī jiàn shì qíng ;

“不要相信一个俘虏的承诺,这是第一件事情;

"Never believe a captive's promise; that's one thing.  

dì èr liú zhù nǐ xiàn yǒu de dōng xī ; dì sān gè jiàn yì shì ,

第二留住你现有的东西;第三个建议是,

Then again: Keep what you have.  And third piece of advice is:

yǒng yuǎn bù yào wéi shī qù de ér bēi shāng ” 。

永远不要为失去的而悲伤”。

Sorrow not over what is lost forever."  

shuō wán , zhè zhī huì chàng gē de niǎo ér jiù fēi zǒu le 。 

说完,这只会唱歌的鸟儿就飞走了。

Then the song-bird flew away.
