36.蚂蚁和蚱蜢, The Ant and the Grasshopper (mǎ yǐ hé zhà měng)

zài yī gè xià rì ， yī zhī zhà měng zài yī kuài ér zhuāng jià dì shàng bèng lái tiào qù ，

在一个夏日，一只蚱蜢在一块儿庄稼地上蹦来跳去，

wú yōu wú lǜ de chàng zhuó zhe gē ér 。

无忧无虑地唱着歌儿。

zhè shí ， yī zhī mǎ yǐ cóng tā shēn biān pá guò chī lì de tuō zhe yī gè yù mǐ ，

这时，一只蚂蚁从它身边爬过吃力地拖着一个玉米，

zhèng yào bǎ tā dài huí mǎ yǐ wō 。

正要把它带回蚂蚁窝。

zhà měng shuō： “ nǐ wèi shén me bù guò lái gēn wǒ liáo tiān ne ？

蚱蜢说：“你为什么不过来跟我聊天呢？

yòng bù zháo nà me xīn kǔ de gōng zuò bɑ ？” 。

用不着那么辛苦地工作吧？”。

mǎ yǐ shuō ： “ wǒ zhèng máng zhe shōu jí guò dōng yòng de shí wù   ，

蚂蚁说：“我正忙着收集过冬用的食物 ，

wǒ jiàn yì nǐ yě qù shōu jí diǎn ér liáng shí ” 。

我建议你也去收集点儿粮食”。

zhà měng shuō ： “ wèi shén me yào xiǎng dào  dōng tiān ， hái nà me yáo yuǎn ？

蚱蜢说：“为什么要想到冬天，还那么遥远？

wǒ men xiàn zài yǒu dà bǎ de kǒu liáng ” 。   

我们现在有大把的口粮”。 

mǎ yǐ méi yǒu tīng tā de ， jì xù xīn kǔ de tuō zhe liáng shí wǎng huí gǎn 。

蚂蚁没有听它的，继续辛苦地拖着粮食往回赶。

dōng tiān lái le ， zhà měng méi yǒu liáng shí ，kuài yào è sǐ le 。

冬天来了，蚱蜢没有粮食，快要饿死了。

zhè shí ，zhà měng kàn dào mǎ yǐ men měi tiān dōu fēn fā tā men zài xià tiān lǐ shōu cún de yù mǐ hé gǔ wù ，

这时，蚱蜢看到蚂蚁们每天都分发它们在夏天里收存的玉米和谷物，

zhà měng míng bái le yī gè dào lǐ ： yào wèi yǔ chóu móu

蚱蜢明白了一个道理：要未雨绸缪

In a field one summer's day a Grasshopper was hopping about,

zài yī gè xià rì ， yī zhī zhà měng zài yī kuài ér zhuāng jià dì shàng bèng lái tiào qù ，

chirping and singing to its heart's content.  

wú yōu wú lǜ de chàng zhuó zhe gē ér 。

An Ant passed by, bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest.

zhè shí ， yī zhī mǎ yǐ cóng tā shēn biān pá guò chī lì de tuō zhe yī gè yù mǐ ，

bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest. 

zhèng yào bǎ tā dài huí mǎ yǐ wō 。

"Why not come and chat with me," said the Grasshopper,

zhà měng shuō： “ nǐ wèi shén me bù guò lái gēn wǒ liáo tiān ne ？

"instead of toiling and moiling in that way?"

yòng bù zháo nà me xīn kǔ de gōng zuò bɑ ？” 。

"I am helping to lay up food for the winter," said the Ant,

mǎ yǐ shuō ： “ wǒ zhèng máng zhe shōu jí guò dōng yòng de shí wù   ，

"and recommend you to do the same."

wǒ jiàn yì nǐ yě qù shōu jí diǎn ér liáng shí ” 。

"Why bother about winter?" said the Grasshopper;

zhà měng shuō ： “ wèi shén me yào xiǎng dào  dōng tiān ， hái nà me yáo yuǎn ？

we have got plenty of food at present."  

wǒ men xiàn zài yǒu dà bǎ de kǒu liáng ” 。   

But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil. 

mǎ yǐ méi yǒu tīng tā de ， jì xù xīn kǔ de tuō zhe liáng shí wǎng huí gǎn 。

When the winter came the Grasshopper had no food and found itself dying of hunger,

dōng tiān lái le ， zhà měng méi yǒu liáng shí ，kuài yào è sǐ le 。

while it saw the ants distributing every day corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer.  

zhè shí ，zhà měng kàn dào mǎ yǐ men měi tiān dōu fēn fā tā men zài xià tiān lǐ shōu cún de yù mǐ hé gǔ wù ，

Then the Grasshopper knew: It is best to prepare for the days of necessity.

zhà měng míng bái le yī gè dào lǐ ： yào wèi yǔ chóu móu
