24.蝙蝠鸟儿和野兽, The Bat, the Birds, and the Beasts (biān fú niǎo ér hé yě shòu)

niǎo ér hé yě shòu zhī jiān jiāng yào bào fā yī chǎng dà de zhàn zhēng 。

鸟儿和野兽之间将要爆发一场大的战争。

dāng dí duì shuāng fāng zhāo bīng mǎi mǎ shí ，biān fú bù zhī dào yào jiā rù nǎ yī fāng 。

当敌对双方招兵买马时，蝙蝠不知道要加入哪一方。

niǎo ér dào biān fú jiā qù yóu shuō ： “ jiā rù wǒ men bɑ 。 ”

鸟儿到蝙蝠家去游说：“加入我们吧。”

dàn biān fú què shuō ： “ wǒ shì yī zhī yě shòu ” 。   

但蝙蝠却说：“我是一只野兽”。 

hòu lái ， jǐ zhī yě shòu dào tā mén xià quàn shuō ：

后来，几只野兽到它门下劝说：

“ lái bā ， jiā rù wǒ men ！ ” biān fú què shuō ： “ wǒ shì yī zhī niǎo ér ” 。

“来吧，加入我们！”蝙蝠却说：“我是一只鸟儿”。

fēi cháng xìng qìng de shì zài zuì hòu guān tóu ，dà jiā hé píng jiě jué zhēng yì ，

非常幸庆的是在最后关头，大家和平解决争议，

méi yǒu fā shēng chōng tū 。  

没有发生冲突。

yú shì biān fú qù niǎo ér nà xiǎng jiā rù qìng zhù huó dòng ，

于是蝙蝠去鸟儿那里想加入庆祝活动，

dàn niǎo ér dōu bù lǐ cǎi tā 。 tā zhǐ hǎo fēi zǒu ，

但鸟儿都不理睬它。它只好飞走，

qù zhǎo yě shòu 。 dàn shì ， biān fú hěn kuài jiù tuì suō huí lái ，

去找野兽。但是，蝙蝠很快就退缩回来，

yě shòu men chà diǎn ér bǎ tā sī chéng suì piàn ér 。

野兽们差点儿把它撕成碎片儿。

biān fú shuō ： “ à ！ wǒ míng bái le ” 。

蝙蝠说：“啊！我明白了”。

gù shì shì shuō ： “ yī gè liǎng miàn sān dāo ér de rén bù huì yǒu péng yǒu 。 ” 

故事是说：“一个两面三刀儿的人不会有朋友。”

A great conflict was about to come off between the Birds and the Beasts. 

niǎo ér hé yě shòu zhī jiān jiāng yào bào fā yī chǎng dà de zhàn zhēng 。

When the two armies were collected together the Bat hesitated which to join.  

dāng dí duì shuāng fāng zhāo bīng mǎi mǎ shí ，biān fú bù zhī dào yào jiā rù nǎ yī fāng 。

The Birds that passed his perch said: "Come with us";

niǎo ér dào biān fú jiā qù yóu shuō ： “ jiā rù wǒ men bɑ 。 ”

but he said: "I am a Beast."  

dàn biān fú què shuō ： “ wǒ shì yī zhī yě shòu ” 。   

Later on, some Beasts who were passing underneath him looked up and said:

hòu lái ， jǐ zhī yě shòu dào tā mén xià quàn shuō ：

"Come with us"; but he said: "I am a Bird."  

“ lái bā ， jiā rù wǒ men ！ ” biān fú què shuō ： “ wǒ shì yī zhī niǎo ér ” 。

Luckily at the last moment peace was made,

fēi cháng xìng qìng de shì zài zuì hòu guān tóu ，dà jiā hé píng jiě jué zhēng yì ，

and no battle took place,

méi yǒu fā shēng chōng tū 。  

so the Bat came to the Birds and wished to join in the rejoicings,

yú shì biān fú qù niǎo ér nà xiǎng jiā rù qìng zhù huó dòng ，

but they all turned  against him and he had to fly away.

dàn niǎo ér dōu bù lǐ cǎi tā 。 tā zhǐ hǎo fēi zǒu ，

He then went to the Beasts, but soon had to beat a retreat,   

qù zhǎo yě shòu 。 dàn shì ， biān fú hěn kuài jiù tuì suō huí lái ，

or else they would have torn him to pieces.  

yě shòu men chà diǎn ér bǎ tā sī chéng suì piàn ér 。

"Ah," said the Bat, "I see now,

biān fú shuō ： “ à ！ wǒ míng bái le ” 。

"He that is neither one thing nor the other has no friends."

gù shì shì shuō ： “ yī gè liǎng miàn sān dāo ér de rén bù huì yǒu péng yǒu 。 ”
